How to Use Google Business Profile To Promote Your Events (For Free)

Events (For Free). You’re planning an event. Maybe it’s a workshop, a discovery clinic, a free taster session or an online class. You’ve posted about it on social media. Maybe even emailed your list or printed a few flyers.

But have you added it to your Google Business Profile?

If not, you’re missing a free, high-visibility way to get your event in front of people who are actively looking for support.

Why Google Business Profile Works For Wellness Events

When someone searches for your business – or for services like yours – your Google Business Profile is often the first thing they see.

It shows up on the right-hand side of Google search results and in Google Maps. This is where people check your reviews, look at photos and decide whether to click through to your website. If they see you’ve got something coming up – like a local event or an offer – they’re far more likely to take notice.

You can use it to promote things like:

  • In-person workshops or open days.
  • Free clinics or discovery calls.
  • Retreats, webinars or taster sessions.
  • Seasonal or themed events tied to specific dates.

It’s ideal for raising local awareness and encouraging bookings – without needing to run ads.

How To List Your Event

Google doesn’t have a specific “Events” tab inside your Business Profile, but you can still promote what’s coming up using the Updates or Event post types.

Here’s how to do it

Log into your Google Business dashboard and click “Add Update.” Choose the “Event” option. You’ll be asked to add a title, start and end dates, a description, and a photo. Keep the title clear and benefit-focused – something like Free Back Pain Workshop – 20 July is far more effective than Summer Event.

In the description, explain who the event is for and what they’ll get from it. Include the time, location and booking instructions. You can also add a button that links to your booking page or contact form.

Upload a high-quality image – ideally something real, warm and inviting, like your space or a photo from a past event. This post will be visible on your Google listing, so make it reflect your brand.

What to Say in the Post

Don’t overthink it. Just be clear, specific and friendly.

Here’s an example of simple event copy that works:

Free Discovery Session: Managing Shoulder Pain Naturally

Join us for a relaxed 45-minute session where you’ll learn simple ways to ease shoulder tension and improve posture.

📍 In-person at our Blackheath clinic.

💬 Booking essential – click below to reserve your place.

You don’t need to be clever – you just need to be helpful and direct. Put the most important info right at the top, as only a few lines are visible on mobile before the user needs to click “More.”

Other Ways To Promote Events Using Google Posts

Your Google Business Profile is more than just a place to post once and forget. You can keep visibility high by using it creatively before and after your event.

For example:

  • Add a reminder post the week of your event.
  • Share an offer post if there’s a discount or limited-time bonus.
  • Post a follow-up afterwards with a photo, testimonial or thank-you message.

This shows Google – and potential clients – that your business is active and engaging. The more fresh content you post, the more visible your listing becomes in local searches.

Want To Know If It’s Working?

You can track the performance of your event listing using the ‘Performance’ tab in your Google Business dashboard. It’ll show you how many people saw your post, how many clicked on your booking link and what search terms brought them to your listing.

You won’t get the level of detail that comes with paid ads, but it gives you a helpful snapshot of what’s getting attention.

Why This Matters

Your Google Business Profile isn’t just a digital business card. It’s a local marketing tool and it’s often more effective than social media for people who are searching for help right now.

Adding your events here takes less than five minutes. It doesn’t cost a thing. And it helps you reach new people who are already interested in what you do.

If you’re running workshops, open days or sessions where bookings matter, this is a simple, smart way to give your event more visibility.
