Think Facebook Ads Don’t Work For Your Business? Think Again

If you’ve tried boosting a post and ended up with a few likes but no bookings, you’re not alone. Most wellness professionals either avoid Facebook Ads completely or try once, get nothing and quietly give up.

But Facebook Ads do work – just not the way most people use them.

They’re not designed to go viral or rack up likes. They’re designed to get your message in front of the right people at the right time, so when someone is ready to act, they already know your name.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to use Facebook Ads to grow your wellness business. No fluff, no jargon, no need for marketing experience. Just a clear, practical way to reach more of the right clients.

Why Facebook Ads Work For Wellness Professionals

Facebook Ads aren’t like Google Ads. People don’t go on Facebook to search for “osteopath near me” or “burnout coach in Brighton.” Instead, they scroll. And that gives you the opportunity to put your message in front of someone who may not yet have realised they need your service.

It’s ideal for:

  • People who are “living with” a problem but haven’t acted.
  • Clients you haven’t seen for a while.
  • Raising awareness in your local area.
  • Highlighting offers or new services.

The trick is to make your ad feel relevant, human, and helpful. That way, even if they don’t book today, you’ll be top of mind when they’re ready.

What Makes A Good Facebook Ad?

You don’t need a flashy video or a fancy hook. You just need three things done well:

1. A clear image

Use a photo that feels personal and genuine. Ideally of you, your treatment room, or something that reflects the result of your service. Avoid generic stock images (like candles and pebbles).

2. Simple, benefit-led text

Speak to the problem they’re experiencing and the outcome they want.

Example:

“Struggling with tension that won’t go away? I help people feel better, move easier and get back to doing what they love. Appointments available this week.”

3. A strong call to action

Tell them exactly what to do next:

  • Book online today.
  • Call to check availability.
  • Message now to arrange a consultation.

Boosted Posts vs Real Facebook Ads: What’s The Difference?

The blue “Boost Post” button looks easy – and it is. But it’s also limited. Boosting a post is like putting up a poster without knowing who’s going to see it.

When you boost, Facebook shows your post to more people. But you don’t get much control over who sees it, what the goal is or how you track performance.

Using Meta Ads Manager instead puts you in control. It lets you:

  • Choose a specific goal (bookings, messages, website visits).
  • Select your audience by location, age, interests and behaviours.
  • Decide where your ad appears (Facebook, Instagram, Messenger).
  • Control your budget and schedule.
  • Track what actually leads to results.

It takes a bit longer to set up but it gives you everything you need to run an ad that works, not just one that gets likes.

Who Should You Target? Let’s Talk Avatars

Before you create an ad, get clear on who you’re speaking to. Not just “anyone with back pain.” Think about your ideal client, the person who really gets value from your service.

Ask yourself:

  • What are they struggling with?
  • How old are they?
  • Are they mostly women, men, or a mix?
  • Where do they live or work?
  • What kind of life do they want back?

Here’s an example:

“A 45-year-old working mum in South London. She’s feeling overwhelmed, is experiencing tension headaches and needs help managing stress. She values kindness, professionalism and convenience.”

Now build your ad with her in mind. Speak to her pain point. Offer the solution she’s quietly been hoping someone would understand.

Spot The Subtle Signals That Help You Target Better

Once you’ve got your avatar, think beyond age and location. Look for subtle signs in their lifestyle that help you fine-tune your audience.

Ask: What else might my ideal client be doing, liking or paying attention to?

Examples:

  • Where they shop – John Lewis, Waitrose, or Planet Organic?
  • Where they work – Target by job title or sector (e.g. education, healthcare, tech).
  • What they value – Mindfulness, sustainability, yoga, local produce.
  • What level of education they have – You can target people who studied at university.

You don’t have to be exact, Facebook’s algorithm is smart. But these subtle clues help you reach people who are more likely to engage with your message and trust what you offer.

Facebook Ads – What Should You Spend?

You don’t need to spend a fortune to get results. Start with a small daily budget, £5 to £10 per day is a great place to begin.

Run your ad for at least 7 to 10 days to give Facebook time to learn who is engaging. Set a monthly cap so you stay in control and avoid stopping and starting your ad too often because that resets the learning.

Remember, it’s not about reaching everyone. It’s about reaching the right people consistently.

Facebook Ads – What Kind Of Results Can You Expect?

Here are two numbers to watch:

Click-Through Rate (CTR):
This tells you how many people clicked after seeing your ad. A CTR of one per cent or more is usually a good sign your message is landing well.

Cost Per Enquiry:
You’ll also want to track how many people contact you, book or fill in a form. That’s your real return.

Let’s say you spend £60 and get six enquiries. If two of those book in at £60 per session, you’ve made your money back and you’ve still got four warm leads.

If your average client stays for three or four sessions over the year, that same ad could be worth more than £200.

Track What Matters: Set Up Conversion Tracking

If you’re only tracking clicks, you’re not seeing the full picture. You need to know what happens after someone clicks. Did they book? Message you? Visit your contact page?

This is where conversion tracking comes in. You can set up goals in Meta Ads Manager that track things like:

  • Online bookings.
  • Click-to-call.
  • Contact form submissions.

If that sounds like a headache, don’t worry. It’s easy to set up or we can help you do it. But without it, you’re just guessing what’s working.

Give Facebook Time To Learn

Facebook’s algorithm gets smarter the longer your ad runs. In the first few days, it’s testing who responds best. That’s why it’s important not to panic if things feel slow at first.

Give your campaign at least seven days before making changes. Keep an eye on results, but don’t tweak too early. Once Facebook knows who to show your ad to, performance often improves quickly.

So Facebook, Is It Worth It?

If you’re looking for a way to stay visible, grow your client base and reach people in your local area then yes, Facebook Ads are definitely worth it.

You don’t need to go big. You just need to go in with a clear message, a well-defined audience and a budget you’re happy with.

Start simple. Test. Learn. Improve. That’s how you grow steadily and sustainably without burning out on social media.
